Carson: 10-Months Old

Weight: 20 lbs, 6 oz (with some clothes on). He is wearing Size 3 Pampers Cruisers diapers, and 12-18 month clothes (more 18 months now). Shoe size is 2-3.

Feedings: He is pretty much the same as last month. He is drinking 8 oz about 3-4 times a day. Carson eats fruit and cereal for breakfast, veggies for lunch and veggie/meat combo for dinner. He is still on Stage 2 baby foods, but has started eating crackers on his own.

Favorites:Elmo’s toy remote control, plastic measuring spoons, taking the bows off of gifts under the Christmas tree, meal time, being tickled, being held, blowing raspberries, and screeching as loud as possible.

Least Favorites: Realizing he is in his bedroom alone, practicing sitting exercises, car rides at night, and nasal spray.

Issues:His clinginess comes and goes — it depends on the day and his mood. He seems to be having a rougher adjustment to being alone in his own room.

Personality: In a word, silly! He has a reputation of being a sweet boy — which he is most of the time — but can also be a bit wild. I think he is a ham. He even laughs in his sleep!

Areas to Work On: Sippy cup, eating chunkier foods, sitting up unsupported, putting self back to sleep in the middle of the night, and crawling (though I can’t work with him on that. It’s all him.)

New Things: Being moved into his own room for all naps and bedtime. This has been the biggest milestone of the month for Carson. If he has his way, he would cuddle with Mark every night. He has also started yelling and screeching all the time. It’s like he is exploring new sounds and new things his voice can do, but he just enjoys doing it at the loudest possible volume. One of nicest milestones this month for Mr. Carson is his new ability to feed himself bottles!

Comparison: Kate likes to play and talk to her mobile in her crib. She can just have her “quiet play time” for up to 30 minutes and not want to be taken out. Carson is the exact opposite.

Randomness: His hair is definitely coming in wavy (sorry Carson…you got that from me), and is still light brown/dark blond (no clue where that came from).

Kate: 10-Months Old

In a lot of ways, Kate was the shining star this month. She is cutting 3 teeth on the bottom, began saying mama/dada/baba, and is extremely close to crawling.

Weight: 15 lbs, 3 oz (with lightweight clothes on). She is wearing Size 2 Pampers Swaddlers diapers. Her shoe size is 2-3, and she is wearing 6-9 month clothes (more and more 9 month! Yay!).

Feedings: In the past week or so, she has decreased her bottles. I’m not sure what that’s all about, but usually she drinks 6-8 oz 4 to 5 times a day. She is eating a lot of table food, feeding herself crackers, and Stage 3 foods. Like Carson, she gets fruit and cereal for breakfast, veggies for lunch, and a veggie/meat combo for dinner.

Favorites: Plastic bags, magazines, paper napkins, plastic measuring spoons, anything either attached or under the Christmas tree, shoe boxes, the exersaucer (it’s a miracle!), and a strand of faux pearls.

Least Favorites: Having any of the above mentioned taken out of her hands (major fit), going to bed before she wants to, the sound of hair dryers or drills, and sitting too long in her high chair.

Issues: She is fighting sleep almost every day now. It’s a battle at nap time (and she often goes without), and bedtime. She has been known to stay up an hour or two past her bedtime.

Personality: The diva is pretty much gone (well, unless I remove something dangerous that she is playing with), and now we are seeing more of a happy, goofy girl. November’s separation anxiety was short-lived. Now she would rather play on the floor with her toys than have me hold her.

Areas to Work On: Sleeping through the night/putting self back to sleep, sippy cup, holding bottle or sippy cup, sitting up unsupported, and crawling.

New Things: Sleeping in her own room, sleeping in her crib instead of the Pack-n-Play, back bends, saying mama/hi/dada/baba (bottle), sometimes saying those words in proper context, getting up on all fours and making little steps forward or rocking.

Comparison: She is saying words we can understand, Carson is still just babbling. Carson has wavy, thick, light colored hair, and Kate’s is coming in dark, straight, and thin.

Randomness: She constantly has her tongue sticking out now! Literally, all the time. There must be some connection to those new teeth coming in on the bottom.

Happy 10 Months, Babies!

What a month it has been! So many changes, so many milestones, so much fun. I can’t believe their 1st birthday is only 2 months away! I’ve already started thinking about the party since invitations will have to go out in about a month. Crazy! Where has the time gone?
