Kate was having a grand old time pushing forward on Carson. He did not enjoy or appreciate his “man bits” being shoved into Elmo’s piano.
Today was an amazingly freakish day for the twins — especially Miss Kate. She said four (yes, four!) “real” words for the very first time today. I was floored.
- “Bye Bye Mama” with a wave
- “Tank Two” (thank you)
- “Shawsie” (Schatzie, the family dog)
- “Baby” (when I asked her, “Are you Mama’s baby?” She replied, “baby.”)
I just love her voice too. Such a sweet girl. We had a great day together.
Kate is entering an imitation phase that I suspect with last for a long time. For the past few weeks, she has been really into brushing hair — both mine and her own. If I say, “Oh Pretty Girl!” she will immediately start to brush her own hair because that’s the phrase I always say when I brush her hair after bath time.
Well, this afternoon she started to imitate me putting lotion on my legs. I was sitting on the living room floor with them, and I grabbed one of their baby lotions and put some on the twins’ knees (you wouldn’t believe how crawling has made them look horrible!). Then I put some on my legs, and Kate was intently watching me rub it in. Then she crawled over, sat on her knees, and started rubbing her hands on my legs. So I put a little bit more lotion on and let her rub it in. She was so proud of herself.
Carson had a milestone today too. For the first time he stood up unsupported (i.e., not holding on to anything). I started cheering him on, he got excited, start bopping up and down, and that made him fall down. He seemed so happy and excited about it, but did not attempt it again for the rest of the day.
Other tidbits…
- The hunger strike is back on with the exception of cheese (Carson) and fruits (Kate).
- Kate’s diaper strike continues. I don’t know how she is doing it, but she is taking off her diaper in the middle of the night. It doesn’t matter if she is in pants, a onesie, etc.
- The twins’ newest fascination is with French kissing their own reflections on the dishwasher.
- If I hear that horn from the Elmo car one.more.time…! I wish it had a power or volume button on it.

We just can’t seem to keep diapers on her anymore!
